Furniture Stuff
Nov. 15th, 2010 10:59 amI'm about to donate a whole bunch of furniture to Goodwill/Salvation Army unless someone here wants it.
They will not take my twin bed (bedframe on wheels, mattress, and box spring, no headboard), and I hate to throw it away - so that's the main thing I'm looking for someone to take. It has very rarely been used. (it's been my guest bed for many years, and I rarely had overnight guests.)
Also available:
Big computer desk
Full-size couch (ugly pattern, but I have a black couch cover)
Green faux-leather loveseat
Very heavy television (one of the older models, supposed to sit on the floor)
... And don't forget the twin bed
THE CATCH: if you want it, you have to come get it. :)
Message me or comment if you're interested!
Aaaaaaaand finally...

*giggle*
It cost around $500 and was an EXTREMELY small portion. And it's a breakfast that no one else I know has had, and very few people EVER have.
Guess what I had for breakfast yesterday?
If you get it right, you get a cookie. (No cookie if I've already told you, or you already found out another way!)
UPDATE: Give up? it was MY CROWN. like, for my tooth. it came dislodged while they were installing it and it went into my throat ... all attempts to get it back up were unsuccessful. So i swallowed it. 1st thing i had in my stomach that day!
at least i got all my minerals.
Where the Birds Always Sing
Dec. 24th, 2009 01:42 pm“Where the Birds Always Sing” – the Cure
The world is neither fair nor unfair
The idea is just a way for us to understand
But the world is neither fair nor unfair
So one survives
The others die
And you always want a reason why
But the world is neither just nor unjust
It's just us trying to feel that there's some sense in it
No, the world is neither just nor unjust
And though going young
So much undone
Is a tragedy for everyone
It doesn't speak a plan or any secret thing
No unseen sign or untold truth in anything...
But living on in others, in memories and dreams
Is not enough
You want everything
Another world where the sun always shines
And the birds always sing
Always sing...
The world is neither fair nor unfair
The idea is just a way for us to understand
No the world is neither fair nor unfair
So some survive
And others die
And you always want a reason why
But the world is neither just nor unjust
It's just us trying to feel that there's some sense in it
No, the world is neither just nor unjust
And though going young
So much undone
Is a tragedy for everyone
It doesn't mean there has to be a way of things
No special sense that hidden hands are pulling strings
But living on in others, in memories and dreams
Is not enough
And it never is
You always want so much more than this...
An endless sense of soul and an eternity of love
A sweet mother down below and a just father above
For living on in others, in memories and dreams
Is not enough
You want everything
Another world
Where the birds always sing
Another world
Where the sun always shines
Another world
Where nothing ever dies...
I'm still alive
Nov. 21st, 2009 08:50 pmThis time it was more exhilarating, especially when I exited the plane - I could see the ground below me and had time to savor the feeling of just falling through nothing, tumbling over and over, before we stabilized in the correct position.
I had the same tandem instructor as last time, and I made it clear that I was not scared and was up for any acrobatics he cared to try while in harness with me. So after we stabilized in freefall, he spun us around several times and apparently I did well at holding my arms and arching my body right - he gave me the thumbs-up a lot. This dude has been skydiving since 1970 and is an ex-Green Beret, and I really like him. When I told him that I wanted to take the training to become certified, he seemed to respect that and told me a lot of stuff about how to store a parachute and take care of your equipment, and some stories about dives he made in the military, etc - it was really cool. We didn't get to twirl around and play with the parachute much this time because the plane dropped us into the wrong side of the wind, or something, and we had to concentrate on landing close to the target area.
Then I spent the rest of the day working and about 3 p.m. had The Allergy Attack from Hell, which is still going on. I can't breathe through my nose at all and my whole face itches on the inside. I often joke about being allergic to work, and i KNOW i'm allergic to something in my office building, but jeez. A few hours in the office usually isn't enough to do THIS to me.
Anyway --- to those of you who knew I was skydiving again, I'm safe and sound. To those who didn't (or who didn't know about the 1st jump, LOL), I'm safe and sound.
